Picture Window Film – Fitting Instructions Your film has been made especially for you and numbered to match your order. Before you begin, please take a moment to check the measurements and give the film a quick inspection. Once it’s applied, we can’t exchange it, so it’s worth making sure you’re happy before you start.
What you’ll need • Spray bottle with slip solution (1/2 tsp washing-up (not eco) liquid per pint of water) • Window scraper • Rubber squeegee (supplied) • Soft kitchen roll or lint-free cloth
Step 1. Prepare the glass Give the window a really good clean. Use the scraper to clear away paint spots, fibres, or old putty lines. The cleaner and neater the glass, the smoother your film will look.
Step 2. Spray the window Mist the whole pane generously with your slip solution. Don’t hold back — the wetter the better!
Step 3. Peel off the backing paper Lay the film face down on a clean, dust-free surface. Wet your fingertips with the solution, then — with the help of a friend if possible — carefully peel away the backing paper. As you go, spray the sticky side so it stays nice and wet. Tip: you can touch the adhesive when it’s wet, just try not to over-handle it. If the glass dries before you’re ready, simply spray again.
Step 4. Offer up the film Hold the top corners between wet finger and thumb. Gently lift and place the film, sticky side to the glass.
Step 5. Position the film Slide the film into place — it should move smoothly across the wet surface. If it doesn’t, peel back slightly and re-spray the glass until it glides easily.
Step 6. Smooth it out Once the film is in position, start from the centre and work outwards with the squeegee to push away water and bubbles. Check from outside the window to make sure no bubbles remain. Wipe away any excess liquid with your cloth or kitchen roll.
Step 7. Final checks Have a last look from outside. If you spot any tiny stubborn bubbles, pierce them with a fine pin and smooth flat with the squeegee.
Step 8. Let it set The film will take around 24 hours to fully bond. Try not to touch or clean the glass during this time.
Looking after your Picture Window Film • To clean use a soft cloth with mild soapy water. • Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, or sharp objects. • Pat dry gently with a lint-free cloth or kitchen roll. Tip: The film will look its very best once it’s had time to settle — enjoy watching your window transform!
