A Little Cornish Magic for the Window: Introducing the Russell Martin Collection

A Little Cornish Magic for the Window: Introducing the Russell Martin Collection

Some things in our homes are purely practical.

Others simply make us happy.

Every now and then, something manages to do both.

That's exactly how we felt when we first discovered the work of Cornish ceramic artist Russell Martin.

At Brume, we're fortunate to spend our days thinking about windows. Not just how to make them private, but how to make them beautiful too. We believe a window can do more than block an unwanted view. It can frame light, tell a story and bring character into a room.

When we first came across Russell's ceramics, we found ourselves lingering over them.

There were wild swimmers braving cold seas, rowers looking for their lost boat, mermaids and sea creatures borrowed from Cornish folklore, and the occasional sea monster lurking where you least expect it. Woven throughout are birds, fish and coastal characters, all animated by Russell's unmistakable red accents. The more we looked, the more we found ourselves drawn into the stories each piece was telling.

Working from his Little Apple Studio in Cornwall, Russell creates his distinctive ceramics using the traditional sgraffito technique, carefully carving through layers of clay to reveal the detailed illustrations beneath. Every piece is full of craftsmanship, imagination and a deep connection to the landscape around him.

Naturally, we began wondering what these stories might look like on glass.

The journey from ceramic vessel to window film has been a fascinating one. Artwork designed to wrap around curved surfaces has been thoughtfully reimagined for flat glass, while preserving the character and charm of the original pieces.

The result is our newest Picture Windows collection.

Printed on premium frosted window film and made to measure for your window, these designs allow natural light to flood into your home while creating privacy where you need it most. Bathrooms, hallways, kitchens and overlooked windows are transformed into something a little more interesting.

But perhaps what we love most is that these designs invite you to pause.

To notice a detail you hadn't seen before.

To spot a bird tucked into a corner.

To smile at a creature that seems to have wandered into view.

The practical benefits matter, of course. Privacy matters. Light matters.

But so do those small moments of pleasure that catch us by surprise during an ordinary day.

We hope this collection brings a few of those moments into your home.
